New Music

* On Monday, I bought Third Eye Blind’s new album Ursa Major for $3.99 from Amazon’s Digital Store.  (I think the first Third Eye Blind album is still their best, but this new one is already growing on me.)
* On Tuesday, I bought MuteMath’s new album Armistice for $8.99 from Amazon’s Digital Store.  (The album is pretty good, but I don’t like it as much as their first 2 releases.)
* Today, I downloaded Radiohead’s These Are My Twisted Words single for free here.  (Radiohead has set the bar so high, but after just one listen, I think the song sounds good.) I also downloaded Copeland’s Daytrotter session for free here.  (The session has the slightly stripped down feeling of many Daytrotter sessions, which in this case, I really appreciate.  I like Copeland, but sometimes their stuff sounds a little too overproduced.)
* I also listened to Imogen Heap’s new album Ellipse here.  I think it sounds really good.  It officially comes out next week.

Upcoming Release Dates

I make lists all the time.  I always have a To Do list.  I have a list of books that I have read and that I want to read.  I like the habit, but sometimes I can get a little obsessed with my lists.  Anyways, one of the lists I keep is upcoming release dates for albums.  I put things I’m really excited about on there, but I also put things I’m just slightly interested in on it as well.  Here’s the list in its current state:

Date - Artist - Album (Notes)
7/14/2009 - Owl City - Ocean Eyes (July 14th on Itunes, July 28th elsewhere)
7/21/2009 - Riceboy Sleeps - Riceboy Sleeps (Jonsi from Sigur Ros and Alex from Parachutes)
7/28/2009 - Phish - Joy
8/11/2009 - Bloc Party - One More Chance (single)
8/18/2009 - MuteMath - Armistice
8/24/2009 - Mum - Sing Along to Songs You Don’t Know
8/25/2009 - Radiohead - Reissues of Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail To The Thief
8/25/2009 - Imogen Heap - Ellipse
9/1/2009 - Chuck Ragan - Gold Country
9/1/2009 - Frontiers - 7” (Chris Higdon from Elliott)
9/15/2009 - Sunny Day Real Estate - Reissues of Diary and LP2
9/22/2009 - Brand New - Daisy
9/22/2009 - Volcano Choir - Unmap (Bon Iver + Collections of Colonies of Bees)
9/22/2009 - Monsters Of Folk - Monsters Of Folk (Conor Oberst, Jim James, M Ward)

September 2009 - Owen - New Leaves
October 2009 - Thrice - Beggars
Late 2009 - Far
Late 2009 - Headlights

I’m most excited about Imogen Heap, Brand New, Owen, Thrice, and Far.  Ooo-wee do I love a new album!

New Music

I just bought the following things:

1.  MuteMath - Spotlight EP (I saw that they have a tour date in Cleveland and I thought “Do they have something new out?”.  They have a new album coming out in August, but this EP was released in February.)
2.  The Weakerthans - iTunes Session EP (While the arrangements on these songs are definitely strange, I can’t resist anything from John K. Samson and the boys.)
3.  Spoon - Got Nuffin EP (They just announced this single last week and it was released this week.  Apparently they are working on their next album.)
4.  Alexi Murdoch - The Ragged Sea [from the Away We Go soundtrack] (I have Alexi’s Four Songs EP and Time Without Consequence album.  He has a new album called Towards The Sun which he is selling now in his store online and should be widely released soon.  After seeing Away We Go, I looked at the soundtrack to see what songs of his are on it.  Of his 9 songs on the soundtrack, 6 songs are from Time Without Consequence and 2 others are on the Towards The Sun CD.  Only the song The Ragged Sea seems to be exclusive to the soundtrack, so of course I had to buy it.  I get slightly obsessive over things like this…wait, did I say slightly?  I meant TOTALLY.)

I’m also going to get the new Wilco album, but I think I’ll buy it on CD, so I’ll get it sometime this weekend.
