Harper Blynn is currently offering their new album ‘Busy Hands’ for free download on their website.  I haven’t listened through it yet, but the band’s other releases have been solid, so I’m sure the album is worth checking out.

Hot Water Music “Drag My Body” (download it here)

I’m really looking forward to the new album from Hot Water Music.  It’s called “Exister” and it comes out in a few weeks on May 15th.  It will be the first new album from HWM since 2004’s “The New What Next”.

In addition to this song, the band also released a teaser video in anticipation of the album’s release.

The album is coming out on CD and a number of different vinyl colors (which you can check out here).

Tenacious D - To Be The Best

I may be in a minority of people who actually enjoyed ‘The Pick Of Destiny’ (more the album than the movie), but I have to think that quite a few people are excited about ‘Rize Of The Fenix’ which comes out May 15.

Sigur Ros recently announced that their new album ‘Valtari’ will be released on May 28.  I love this quote about the record:

The band released a video for the title track and while the video is simple, the song is absolutely gorgeous.

The guys from Signal Home (singer/guitarist Fred Oakman, guitarist Troy Messerall, and bassist Paul Dean) have joined the drummer from The Caddies (Jim Stone) to form a new band named One If By Land.  The band is playing its first show on Saturday March 3 at the Roff School Tavern in Meadville, PA.  I know they’ve been practicing hard and I’m confident they’re going to rock, so come check them out.

The Shins - “Simple Song”

The first new song from The Shins since 2007 plays like something off of Chutes Too Narrow, with an upbeat rhythm and bright guitar that provides the perfect soundtrack for this 50 degree January day in Chicago. And even though the only remaining member from the original Shins line-up is James Mercer, the melodic guitar-pop remains as catchy as ever.

The Shins are also part of a recently-released, stacked Coachella 2012 bill.

I really like this song from the upcoming ‘Port Of Morrow’ which comes out March 20th.

I bought this shirt from Plow United in early December (along with a copy of ‘Sleepwalk’, the band’s new retrospective) and it immediately vaulted to near the top of my favorite t-shirt hierarchy…such a great logo and the silver ink is really amazing.  Anyways, just before Christmas, I got a holiday card in the mail from the band with a couple of stickers.  How cool is that???  The guys in Plow United might just be the coolest dudes on the planet.
