I saw Coldplay last night at Star Lake Amphitheater. They were really good. They played a lot of stuff from Viva La Vida and Prospekt’s March, with a few songs from the previous records sprinkled in. Here were the highlights for me:
1. They played a few songs on a small stage to the right of the main stage. They did techno versions of God Put A Smile On Your Face and Talk. They sounded really neat.
2. They also played a couple of songs on a small stage on the lawn. They did an acoustic version of I’m A Believer (the Neil Diamond song that the Monkees made famous).
3. The coolest part to me was during the chorus of Lovers In Japan, they fired thousands of paper butterflies into the air. It was really cool.
They also gave away copies of the live album LeftRightLeftRightLeft on the way out of the show which was nice. If you like the band’s music, they are definitely worth seeing live.

I was looking forward to downloading the free Coldplay album that was released today, but apparently there is too much traffic and I can’t get the page to load. Hopefully I’ll get it soon. Alas! http://lrlrl.coldplay.com/leftright.html
