Plow United
I bought this shirt from Plow United in early December (along with a copy of ‘Sleepwalk’, the band’s new retrospective) and it immediately vaulted to near the top of my favorite t-shirt hierarchy…such a great logo and the silver ink is really amazing. Anyways, just before Christmas, I got a holiday card in the mail from the band with a couple of stickers. How cool is...

Comic Book Power Rankings
Top 5: 1. Ultimate Spider-man (Issue #4) [Miles Morales swings into action for the first time.] 2. Captain America (Issue #4) [Ed Brubaker’s first arc with Steve McNiven on art duties has been great. The story featuring Codename Bravo has been fun and the art has been amazing. On a related note, we learned that Bucky is still alive in Fear Itself #7.1.] 3. Justice League (Issue #3) [This...

Louis C.K. on the B.S. Report →
I regularly listen to the B.S. Report (Bill Simmons’s podcast) and this week, Bill had Louis C.K. as a guest. I’m sure that Louis is doing plenty of promotion for his new comedy special, but I think anyone who like Louis would enjoy this podcast. It was an hour and a half split into two parts. You can download the podcast at the link and you can buy Louis’s new special here.

Latterman - Our Better Halves (live in Philadelphia - December 2, 2011)
According to a thread over at Vinyl Collective, this song was written in 2007 for a compilation that never got released. The song was self-released by the band on a one-sided 7” that was sold at the recent string of reunion shows. Limited to 1000 copies, it’s been available sporadically online from Dead Broke...

Red State
I watched Red State on DVD this past week. It was written and directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma), but it was unlike any of the other Kevin Smith movies. It was part horror, part action, and part comedy. It was a strange movie but I enjoyed it.

Pearl Jam looking in the mirror
Pearl Jam recently posted this photo on Twitter and Facebook. I think it’s cool for two reasons: (1) it’s just cool, and (2) it pays homage to a photo of the band taken a long time ago and used for the cover of Rearviewmirror (the band’s greatest hits release).

Comic Book Power Rankings
Top 5: 1. Ultimate Spider-man (Issues #1 and #2) [It feels good to have Ultimate Spider-man back at the top of my comic book power rankings (there wasn’t an issue released last month). I never really like when the comic books I read get mainstream media coverage, normally because it means something is going to be spoiled for me (see the death of Captain America, Spider-man unmasking...

Handmade Arcade: November 12, 2011 →
I saw a sign the other day that Pittsburgh’s next Handmade Arcade is on November 12 at the Convention Center. The event was last held in the spring, so I’m not sure if it’s being moved to the fall or if it is now a semi-annual event, but either way, I’m sure Jess and I will be going.

Heroes & Villains: The Comic Book Art of Alex Ross
A week ago, Jess and I went to the Warhol Museum to see the new exhibit on Alex Ross, called ‘Heroes & Villains: The Comic Book Art of Alex Ross’. I’ve been an Alex Ross fan for years (having read Kingdom Come, Marvels, Uncle Sam, and other stuff) so I recognized quite a bit of the art on display, but the entire exhibit was interesting. I found Alex’s childhood art,...
